DOCTRINE & THEOLOGY

This is the message we have heard from Him and proclaim to you,

that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

1 John 1:5 NKJV

The Foundation aims to bring evidence and knowledge—the light—to the Christian faith, so that all people can examine for themselves the truth or falsehood of any claim on their minds and lives. An individual must learn enlightenment; it cannot be handed over by others, regardless of their reputation, or how exalted they may be.

“There are three ways of arriving at an opinion on any subject. The first is to believe what one is told; the second is to disbelieve it; the third is to examine the matter for oneself. The overwhelming majority of Mankind practise the first method; of the remainder, the overwhelming majority practise the second; only an infinitesimal remnant practise the third.”

Bertrand Russell, Mortals and Others, American Essays 1931-35, Vol II, Essay 37: “What to Believe,” p. 454, 24 August 1931.

To reinforce Russell’s point, Aldous Huxley once said, “The deepest sin against the human mind is to believe things without evidence." Christianity was once known as the evidence-based faith, and that is still the case, even though modern secular culture rejects the divine and the supernatural, and especially the Christian faith. Attacks on the Christian faith, the bible, and Christ Himself have never been stronger. In spite of these attacks, evidences for the Christian faith are overwhelming, and cannot be ignored.

However, the last few centuries have radically changed the culture of the world. From the Renaissance in the 15th and 16th centuries to the so-called Enlightenment in the 17th and 18th centuries, there has been a growing tendency to challenge and dismiss Scripture as the Word of God. A new-found confidence in the arts and sciences, arising from the growing Humanism out of the Renaissance, and the rise of Rationalism have produced a secular attitude of scepticism.

Has God really said?

Human Rationalism has replaced divine revelation. Ironically, This replays the temptation of Satan in the Garden of Eden. The Reformation in the West in the 16th Century, was aimed at re-establishing Scripture as the sole authority of the Christian faith. This was, however, separate to the main thrust of Enlightenment Rationalism, which was, and still is, the enemy of the Christian faith.

The purpose of the Foundation is to equip faithful people for service through a deeper knowledge of the Word of God and the development of their gifts and abilities for use in the service of Christ.
